Brother Shawn

As we begin our seventh year here at Sharon, I again want to take opportunity to say "thank you" for allowing me to serve God with you. We've been together now long enough to see each other's faults, weaknesses, and sins. Your patient and gracious cooperation toward me has allowed God to use us in some marvelous ways.
I realize God doesn't need me. With an awesome sense of awe I understand He chooses to work with me. If I ever get the attitude He needs me, He might move me aside to teach me. I further realize this church doesn't need me and you don't need me. I appreciate your love for me but you need Jesus. You can never have the attitude you or this church needs me. Never be satisfied with having me when you have Jesus. I will disappoint you, but Jesus will keep you.
Now we are moving ahead and I am excited. God is doing some wonderful things. Our school is reaching a point of stability. A new sanctuary is closer than we realized. He is also calling us to take our faith more seriously and put away sinful and childish things. He has revealed to us anew we are not on a playground but a battlefield and we cannot afford to sleep on our post. In that vein, however, we cannot be distracted by any of those things. We must keep our eyes on Jesus. He is our Victory!
I thank God for the love He has borne in my heart for you and the love, patience, and kindness He has shown me through you. Thank you for being God's gift to me.
Love, Bro. Shawn
